Hello, thank you for visiting Florida Spine & Pain Specialists. My name is Nomen Azeem and I look forward to becoming your doctor. I am originally from the Washington, DC area. I completed my undergraduate education at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA and medical education at the Ross University School of Medicine. I went on to complete my medical internship at Medstar Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland followed by residency at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Washington, DC. At that time, I also served as Chief Resident. Upon completion of my residency, I held a faculty position with Medstar Georgetown University/National Rehabilitation Hospital as a Musculoskeletal Medicine Specialist. I then went on to complete an ACGME Interventional Pain Fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA under the guidance of Dr. Frank J.E. Falco, an internationally renowned pain physician.
“The current opioid epidemic that is gripping our nation is indiscriminate. It is affecting our seniors to our children, our weekend warriors to professional athletes. I am met with a story daily describing tragedy associated with opioid abuse. Although necessary in very specific circumstances, the overprescription of opioids needs to be curtailed. As a member of the medical community that treats pain daily I will continue to strive to provide long term pain solutions independent of opioids. Further, I will continue to advocate and educate to the medical community at large regarding the non-opioid treatment options available to treat pain.”
